The Channel Tunnel is an 31-mile railway tunnel that connects Folkestone in Kent with Coquelles in France. It runs beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover and are the only permanent transport link between Great Britain and the European mainland. At its lowest point, it is 75 metres beneath the sea bed, and at 23.5 miles, the underwater section are the longest in the world.
