Imagine you have found a new protein (Protein X) (which has similar charateristics to Amyloid Beta Protein) that has never before been characterized in humans. You already know it interacts with Protein Y which is well characterized in humans, you also have the amino acid sequence of human protein X, corresponding mRNA sequence, full sequence of the human gene that encodes protein X, an antibody against protein Y that works well in all typical procedures that involve antigen-antibody interactions. How would you proceed to identify and understand its functions in physiology and disease, with unlimited resources and (almost) unlimited time?
