1. Read and analyze primary and secondary sources to gather information about the Haymarket Affair, Homestead Strike, and
Pullman Strike.
2. Use the sources to determine the causes and effects of the three events.
3. Create a three-column chart showing the causes and effects.
4. Take the role of a participant in one of the three events. Write a letter explaining why you participated. Use information from
your causal analysis of the sources to write your letter. Consider such factors as the conditions faced by workers and the
responses of factory owners and the government to union actions.
