Divide whole numbers and decimals involves a repetitive process of estimating a quotient, multiplying and subtracting.

At each step multiply the divisor with the largest possible number, subtract it from the original number to get the remainder and bring one extra digit down, repeat the process till a remainder is obtained and no digits could be brought down.
