European Imperialism in Africa was termed as the "Scramble for Africa." This was a time when majority of the countries in Africa were colonized by the Europeans. Much of their land was controlled because of having rich natural resources. The colonizers also imposed economic policies that were unfair to the Africans. Families were separated because of "forced labor." Men were obligated to work on the mining areas and farms. This left the women and children devastated. Since Europeans did not respect the traditions of the Africans, it led to the breaking up of values in the society.
