7. On the 2nd floor, 18 of the nurses have less than 10 years of experience and 6 have
more than 10 years of experience. What is the ratio of more experienced nurses to total
nurses working on the 2nd floor reduced to lowest terms? The third floor has 16 nurses
working. If you wanted to maintain the same ratio of the 2nd floor, how many of the
nurses would have more than 10 years of experience?

Answer :

The ratio is 18:6 and simplified is 3:1. To maintain the same ratio in the third floor the ratio needs to be 3x :1x . We add these together and make an equation which is : 4x=16 leaving x=4. We multiply both sides of the ratio by 4 getting the ratio 12:4 . So four out of 16 is the number of nurses with more than 10 years experience needed to have this ratio
