  • Let total students be x
  • Students didn't came to lunch be y

ATQ

  • x+y=414---(1)
  • x-y=360--(2)

Substracting both

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto 2y=54[/tex]

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto y=27[/tex]

  • 3 students paid 27

each paid

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{27}{3}=9[/tex]

Now

Total students went on trip

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto \dfrac{360}{9}[/tex]

[tex]\\ \sf\longmapsto 40[/tex]
