I think the nation had changed in many ways, one of them being that America had really settled down into this governmental structure and we were coexisting very well with each other at this point. Another thing that changed is the fact that America had started our climb on the world stage and we were starting to gain credit amongst the other world powers at the time.

The US became much more connected, sharing same political ideas and also voting Washington as president in the election of 1789. After Washington died in 1799, the election of 1800 was very heated. Adams and Jefferson were now enemies running for president and making speeches against each other.
