Shays' Rebellion was a series of staged protests by American farmers in 1786. The farmers objected to the way the tax collections (both state and local) were being enforced.
The rebellions were mostly in Massachusetts, but there were also protests in New Hampshire and South Carolina.
The leader of the rebellion was Revolutionary War veteran Daniel Shays of Massachusetts.
