Bob is building a deck that is 26.5 feet long, and he has posts that are 6 inches square to use to build the railing. If he puts theposts 6 feet apart with one on each end, how many posts will he use?

Answer :

The length of the deck is 26.5 feet. Each post needs to be apart 6 feet from the others. To find the number of posts that will be used we need to divide the length of the deck by the distance between the posts.

[tex]n=\frac{26.5}{6}=4.42[/tex]

Since there can't be 0.42 posts, there will be 4 posts on the deck.
