Atenolol is used alone or with other drugs (such as hydrochlorothiazide) to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Frequent side effects include: drowsiness, fatigue or dizziness, cold fingers and toes, nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, stomachache. Taking the first dose of atenolol at bedtime may feel you dizzy.
