In its early history China was not a strong country, in fact, it was described as: "A sick old man of Asia." More powerful countries such as: Great Britain,
France, Japan, Germany, and Russia had taken control of different parts of China, where they organized trade, businesses and other developments of
the area. These countries had no formal authority, but China was not powerful enough to prevent them from being there.
